FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! (for art)
By now many of you have heard about the WWAF‘s upcoming art battle “The Art of War of Art”. Though many have not, and even more are a bit ambiguous about what, in fact, an “art battle” is. Suffice it to say, it’s fine art and entertainment at its best. Selected artists create their own personas, and duke it out… with their paints and pencils. The scene is reminiscent of cafeteria freestyle rap battles, Carmen back-alley, street gang dance-offs or a Brooklyn summer’s, 3 on 3 b-ball tourney. In other words, a lot of taunting, trash-talking, bravado, creative word-play and a healthy dose of eye-candy, vis-a-vis, contemporary art by a myriad of Atlanta art talents.
Look, I can show you better than I could tell you. Just take a look at some of the previous “BEEF” between artists in the WWAF:
Occasional Superstar vs. Fahamu Pecou is the Shit!
Black Ink vs. well… Everybody
Artus the Great vs. King Cotton
Lady Luxe vs. Strangé
Due to SNOWPACALYPSE 2011, The Art of War of Art had to be rescheduled to Saturday, January 29th but this only made it possible for the antics to get even more intense. Whether you “get it” or not, this is an event you won’t want to miss! The WWAF is currently in talks with artists and galleries in other cities across the country as well. So be ready, where ever you are.
